Fatimas are genetically enhanced organic computers. Their bodies are first created from strains of Headliner quality DNA. Some of the great Fatima Meights such as Doctors Morard and Ballanche might even create the DNA from scratch. . .Stage 2: The Embryo The Embryo is then fertilized in a mechanical incubator. .Stage 3: Gestation The development of the embryo in a vat of amniotic fluid is no different than what happens in a mother's womb. .Stage 4: Prenatal Development At this stage a normal human child would be 'born' while a Fatima continues to develop in the amniotic fluid. No training is begun this early. .Stage 5: Early Maturation Between 2 to 9 years after the end of the initial gestation, the Fatima still lives in the amniotic fluid, but by this time computer regulated training has begun. In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, Fatimas are also schooled in Mortar Head technologies, and begins to develop a personality of their own. At this point Fatima are ready to begin serious Fatima training, all that would be necessary if for the Meight to accelerate their 'growth' but Galactic Law forbids such a maturation. Thus the Fatima already ready for training must wait until their 10th year until their bodies have matured 'naturally.' The L-type child Fatimas we've seen in the series, probably have their growth retarded at this point. .Stage 6: Indoctrination Fatimas have now lived 10 years in the amniotic fluid, and will begin to receive college level education in the fields, or biology, engineering, and the physical sciences. It is at this point that the Fatima is subjected to Mind Control in keeping with Galactic Law that Fatimas must be controlled. This is the first point at which the Fatima and its personality is considered fully formed. .Stage 7: Preparation The Fatima opens her eyes, draws breath, develops all the usual adaptations to ready them for exposure to the 'outside' world. The markers from the Indoctrination stage heal, and the Fatima is readied for what comes next. It is at this stage the Fatima also receives the Crystal implant that allows them to interface directly with a Mortar Headd. . .Stage 8: Leaving the Nest Adult Fatimas live with their Meights for another 2 to 3 months while meeting with interested Headliners from all over the Five Star systems. When the Fatima chooses a master she goes with the Headliner, and the Headliner, or the country that he serves renders payment to the Meight for his efforts. A Fatima costs about $46 Million in US currency, or 5 Billion Yen to produce. Designer Fatimas from the great Meights like Morard and Ballanche probably cost more. State owned Fatima Factories probably do not require a Fatima debut, nor payments to be rendered to the meight for his work. It is worth noting that Dr. Ballanche once worked for a Fatima factory on Addler, and some of his creations there ended up in the hands of the Bekin Regn knights.
