In my translation work I have found a few English words the Japanese have adapted to describe things in the Gundam world. They are all going to be given in English with the Japanese Hiragana, Kanji, or Katakana text following the name, and just before Description. You won't need a Japanese enabled Web Browser to see the text properly, but if this aspect of it doesn't interest you, well the page is still 90% English. If you do read Japanese, and you disagree with my translations, let me know... Right now many Kanji, and Hiragana, or Katakana are unavailable. English Word Japanese Characters Description of the entry Abowaku   The final defeat of the Zeon forces. Many of the Zeon soldiers in this.battle were fresh out of training, but the Federation overwhelmed them with numbers, not skill. Giren Zavi's "Solar Ray System" decimated 66% of General Revil's battle fleet, killing Revil, and the .Archduke Degin Zavi all in one stroke, but the sheer momentum of .the Federation advance pushed over the defenses of Abowaku..When Krishia Zavi killed Giren for murdering their father, Admiral .Delaz took his fleet, and any that would come with him to the Asteroid belt. Others fled to Axis. Archduchy This is the word they keep using for the Zeon country, whether it is .an Archduchy or a Hegemony, whatever, these are the characters representing that side of the war. Asia   Just the land of the lands of Asia, like those in the 08th MS team series. Zeon had an early hold, both here, and in Europe. Atomic Bazooka   This is the name given on the GP-02 spec sheet; I have yet to find the word Nuclear in any of my work so far. Axis   An asteroid fortified by Zeon, and later mover to a midway point between the Asteroid belt, and Jupiter. It is active in the Zeta Gundam, and Char's Counterattack parts of the Gundam Timeline. Beam The Generic term for energy weapons in Gundam. Beam Madu The Beam Madu is Zeon's answer to the Federation Beam Saber, and is only used with the Gelgoog MS. Beam Rifle The Gundam term for miniaturized Ship's cannons that were first carried by the Prototype Gundam, and its Ilk, the early Zeon MS all used projectile weapons. The Federation was the first side to have the new miniaturized beam weapon technology, but as in many cases in this war, the enemy soon caught up. The first real examples on Zeon beam weaponry for an MS were the weapons used by the Gelgoog. Beam Saber The Beam Saber is the Federation's answer to the Heat weapons of Zeon, although Zeon's Gelgoog units do carry Beam Weapons also, they are one of the few units that do. Overall it is a devastating close range weapon. Big Zam   The Mobile Armor piloted by Dozzle Zavi in the end of the Battle of Solomon. The MA required two other pilots to operate all of its systems at peak efficiency, but Dozzle was capable of controlling most of the functions by himself. It was impervious to Beam Attacks so long as its I-Field remained intact. Bit     Cockpit Seat     Colony This is the term used for any of the hundreds of cylindrical space stations orbiting the Earth in the Gundam Series. They may be of an Open type with giant mirrors spinning around them, like most of the colonies in the series, or of a Closed type. Side 3's colonies, including the colony laser used by Zeon at Abowaku. Core Block System The System that utilized the Core Fighter, as a powerplant, cockpit, and escape pod in the Gundam, Guntank, and GunCannon Mobile Suits. Core Booster I had a text that referenced the Booster, and since many people think it is more believable than a Gundam linking to a booster, I added this to the list. It was also referencing the Death of Sleggar Row in the battle of Solomon, and his part in the defeat of the Big Zam. Core Fighter   Elmeth   The first in series of Newtype Mobile Armors used by Zeon. The Pilot was a Newtype named Lalah Sun. Europe   Just including this, because some people might be interested in when the Zeon took over Europe, and when the Federation liberated it. Federation The Earth Federation side of the war. Flannagan   Newtype research projects under Krishia Zavi were performed here at an agency named after its director. Generator This refers to the main Fusion engine of a Mobile Suit, and is often rated to in Model Sheets in kW of output. GM Command   The ground type GMs seen in the city streets of Side 6 Libol Colony, when the Zeon forces attacked. These are not the same as the Cold Weather units seen in the beginning of the first episode of 0080, not the same as any GM seen in MS Gundam, they are more like the GMs seen later in 0083. GM Space   Same as the Command, these are unique to 0080, but look closer to 0083 units, and are supposed to be around in the last days of the One-Year War. Granada   The Last Zeon Stronghold on the Moon, it was crucial to the Federation as a launch point for the rest of their space campaign. It would have been hard for the federation to move against Zeon with Granada at their backs. Grenade     Gundam This is just to place the Japanese Characters for Gundam. Guncannon   Gundarium   The armor material, of which many of the Gundams' exteriors were built, originally I believe it was called Lunar Titanium, but since many of the Gundam prototypes were built on Earth that this is unlikely. Guntank RX-75 Guntank, a formidable opponent, see the picture in the Gallery. Heat     Heat Hawk   Also known as the heat axe, this melee weapon is common to the Zaku, and is often Carried as a weapon of last resort, very few pilots ever survive long enough to use this weapon once they have run out of conventional weapons, others never need to use it. Heat Saber   Heat Rod   Helium3   I haven't translated this really, but an interesting this about He3 is that it is absolutely frictionless when in liquid form Helium Fleet     I-field     Jupiter Energy Fleet     LaGrange Point     Linear Seat     Lunar Titanium The Material originally used to build the armored hulls of the Gundam, and other Federation MS Prototypes, later renamed Gundarium because it was most often used in the construction of Gundams. Machine Gun   This refers to the weapons carried by the Zeon Zakus, as well as the Federation GMs the only difference seems to be in the size of the rounds they use, the Feds 90mm, and 100mm, while Zeon uses 110mm, and 120mm weapons. Magnetic Coating     Manipulator   Most often this refers to the hands of a mobile suit, or of a mobile armor. Mass Driver     Minovski Craft   Minovski Drive   Minovski Particle The Particle Discovered by Dr. Y. T. Minovski that when combined with Plasma absorbs radio waves such as those used in RADAR. It also makes it possible to create small clean fusion reactors because of its radiation absorbing properties eliminate the need for lots of bulky shielding. The Minovski particle is also used in Anti Gravity devices that allow vehicles and ships to hover, and exit, and enter the Earth's atmosphere under their own power without burning a lot of fuel to do so. Minovski Physics The Branch of science devoted to the study of the Minovski Particle, and its practical applications in Nuclear Fusion, Anti-Gravity, Spaceflight, Communications Jamming, and the like. Missile     Musai     Normal Suit     Nuclear Pulse Propulsion     One-Year War   The name given for the conflict that lasted from January 3 0079, until December 31 0079. The - is also Japanese for One, I might not have even clued into this one except the One Week Battle was listed just a little later... One-Week Battle The first week of the war, the Zeon caught the Feds with their pants down, and half of the human race got destroyed as a result. The use of mobile suits in warfare was now a reality, and the federation was far behind in the new Arms race. This week was from January 3 0079 until January 10 0079, and some people say that it ended with the colony dropping on Sydney. The Feds were too busy mopping up civilian disasters to fight the Zeon for about a week, and the Zeons were too busy grabbing up land and resources in the chaos. Output   This is just here for anyone reading MS stats in a magazine or of a model spec sheet, this word is used in Thruster and Generator output, one is measured in Kilograms of force, and the other Kilowatts of power. Panoramic Monitor     Psychommu     Psycho-control system     Revil Federation forces General during the One-Year war. When he escaped Zeon capture he gave the famous Zeon is Exhausted speech that convinced many to continue fighting when the people of Earth were in their darkest hour, and had all but given up. Ruum   The largest space battle in history, Char Aznable sank a record 5 Battleships, and the Black Tri-Stars, a trio of Mobile suit pilots, captured General Revil. SFS   (Sub-Flight System) Shield This is anything from a floating block of ship's hull you put between you and your enemy, to the High tech shields used by the MS in F-91. I actually like the idea of missiles shooting out of the shield as they broke into fighting. I like it a whole lot better than trying to block an incoming blast with a slab full of explosives. I mean how many people would try protecting themselves from a flame-thrower with a keg of gunpowder. Skirt     Solar System     Solar Ray System     Solomon   I seem to recall that Solomon came right out in my Translation software, but for those of you trying it manually, I have included it anyway. Solomon was the site of the second to the last battle of the One-Year War, and then used as a staging area for the following attack on Abowaku. Solomon, later renamed Konpeitoh by the Federation was also a test site for the Elmeth, and Bits systems. Space Colony     Sturm Faust   The hand held rocket weapon used by many Zeon MS pilots instead of a Bazooka, they are smaller, and don't have to be reloaded like a Bazooka. Sydney The city in Australia that got hit by a colony because of Zeon's Operation British. Thermonuclear Reactor     Thruster   The rocket like engines that allow a MS or an MA to leap or fly, this force is measured in Kilograms on many spec sheets. Vulcan     Wave Rider     White Base   The ship class designed for project V to carry the Federation's new mobile suits.  Zeon  The Name of the founder of Colonialism for the space colonies, and the belief that to save the Earth, they must leave it.
