In Gundam one if its defining characteristics
that made the show the milestone it was at the time was its protrayal or a realistic robot. A machine used for
good or bad like a tank, or jetfighter, not just heroicly saving the day against Aliens.
These Mobile Suits were powered by a Minovski-Ionescu
Fusion reactor, and carried conventional weapons as well as sophisticated particle beam weaponry.
On the left are some pages dedicated to
classifying some of the mobile suits performance based on statistics that have come from either Bandai model kits
or Sunrise authorized source material.
The 180 degree turn time, is the time measured
in seconds it takes a mobile suit to turn completely around, and can help measure the spped and manueverability
of a given suit in combat.
The Reactor's document helps break down
the Kilowatt (kw) output of various Mobile Suits reactors, based on these kw numbers and the type of technology
used in the MS we can determine if the unit was overpowered, or just a grunt unit.
Ok, here is a list of 180 degree Turn times for Mobile Suits, this
statistic is how long it takes the suit to complete a 180 degree turn. Obviously faster is better in this case,
we'll begin in order from fastest to slowest. The column on the left is the MV suggestion for Gundam Mekton, the
Second column is a measurement of the mobile suits 180 degree turnaround time in seconds.
Many series like 0080, and 0083 gave these turnaround
times as a means of measuring the speed of different mobile suits.

Ok, the other way the guys at Bandai/Sunrise would rate their Mobile Suits was with reactor output, measured in
kilowatts, and beam weapons measured in megawatts. For now we'll concentrate on the powerplants themselves, but
keep in mind that they have to feed mega watt weapons.
All Gundam series give reactor outut, but we'll concentrate on the
first 4 years of the UC timeline. Series like MS Gundam, 08th MS team, 0080, and 0083 gave these reactor outputs,
and we'll use them fo reverse engineer the mobile suits themselves.
On other pages we'll describe how to reverse engineer machine guns,
and beam rifles used in the series.
The column on the Far left will be used for reactor outputs, and the
one on the right will be for the mobile suit(s) represented by that range...

Things people should note when reading the above chart, the
Dom Troopen uses a hover system to propel itself along the ground, this system exploits one of the Minovski effects
to produce lift, but it is relatively power expensive to use. In addition the Doms also use Heat Weapons so the
power cost of the Dom may seem a bit high for a 40 ton unit, but its just all the extra electronics.
Also the Alex is a Newtype use mobile suit, designed with
both a cockpit ball 360 degree view system, and a Magnetic Coating system that coated all of its moving parts so
that while the reactor was overpowered for a Mobile Suit in its weight categorie, the Alex is faster still than
anything else in its category. So while we are in the process of showing a power to speed index as a corellation
of weight, the Alex is only truly representative here of a 40 ton mobile suit with a 1420kw reactor, as are the
GM Custom, and Quell, without the Newtype controls, and extra speed.
We'd also like to mention the Xammel as another Odd-Duck since
it uses the same power as units twice its size. The Xammel however has no beam or heat based weapons, and has tiny
arms for its size, therefore it becomes hard to guess about its power consumption.
From the data presented above we can only presume that Zeon
energy weapons take more power to fire or activate, than Federation ones do. We can also draw some guidelines about
power usage from them, first an MS with Beam Weapons will use about 10 to 20 percent more power than one using
conventional weapons. I believe the Gouf was actually an improved version of the MS-05B Zaku, and not significantly
more powerful than the Zaku IIs that were in space, it was fast enough to be the ruling Zaku clone on Earth. Since
it has 15 percent more power than the MS-05B, but only 8 percent over the contemporary MS-06F the difference one
would assume is due to the MS-05B's total lack of Heat Based weaponry. MS-06 variants all had Heat Hawks which
presumable use as much power as the Electrical Whips, and Heat Sabers of the Goufs. Since it is close enough to
10 percent I will give the Gouf a +1 reactor overcharge, making it faster, and more ready to act than mere Zakus.
I believe that Heat Weapons require the reactor to have about 5 percent more power than if the Mobile Suit used
conventional weapons. On a similar note, GMs that began production at the same weight as Gelgoog Jaegers, and Gelgoog
Marine Officers had much less power due to their low output tuning. However later when the GMs are upgraded for
Beam Weaponry their output increased greatly, but they were still 7 percent behind the High End Gelgoogs. It should
be noted that while there is only a few kilowatt difference between the greatest, and most menial of Gelgoogs,
there is as much as 15 tons weight difference between the heaviest, and lightest of them. The fastest ones have
the lightest weight, 40 tons, and the highest power output, 1490kw... It should be obvious that the 40 ton officer
units are overpowered, so I will give them a +1 bonus as well. Finally in a few years time when the GM Custom,
and Quell came out the Officer Gelgoogs were then just about equally met, the difference being now only 4 percent
kw output.
